Hammond Hotel

Opportunity:
Hammond Hotel is a restaurant that used to be a stagecoach stop between Eau Claire and the Twin Cities. Simular to many other bars and restaurants that attract a large smoking crowd, Hammond hotel was looking for a way to bounce back from the smoking ban that came in effect July 2010.

Solution:
A large portion of Hammond Hotel’s revenue came from smokers playing games or drinking in the bar. Studies have shown when a smoking ban is implemented bar revenue often drops 30% - 40%. This statistic concerned Don and Cedric enough to investigate smoking structures. The Cabreeze offers the most elegant solution by complimenting the architecture of their 100 year old building and supplying a pleasant environment for smokers and non-smokers. Notice the verandah on the right hand side of the Cabreeze which extends the roof opening from 50% to 75%.

Result:
Don and Cedric found a way to accommodate all their patrons despite the smoking ban. As a side benefit, the Cabreeze has created a lot of excitement in the village of Hammond and the surrounding area. They expect a pay back of their investment within 18 months. That is an excellent ROI!
